The work content for the preparation of this CD-ROM was distributed amongst four organizations:
The Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (ICSTM), London
Prof N. Ambraseys
Dr P. Smit
ICSTM was associated with seven work areas:
the uniform pre-processing and correction of all strong-motion records and calculation of elastic response spectra.
reformatting of all uncorrected and corrected records and response spectra.
the compilation, determination, and verification of associated seismological-, station- and instrumental-parameters. The work involved uniform re-calculations of seismological parameters, if required, extraction of data from existing bulletins and prompting of strong-motion data or network owners for data.
the development, and implementation of a relational database for the associated parameters and a databank for the time histories and spectra.
the preparation of the documentation and source code.
contribution to the database of any relevant information.
coordination of the work and management of the project.
Ente Nazionale per l'Energia Ellettrica (ENEL, now Società Gestione Impianti Nucleari and Servizio Sismico Nazionale), Rome
Eng R. Berardi
ENEL's tasks concerned three areas:
the digitisation and pre-processing of Italian strong-motion records not already available for dissemination.
the determination of site conditions and preparation of such data into formats for inclusion in the CD-ROM database.
contribution to the database of any additional relevant information especially from strong-motion stations formerly operated by ENEL.
Ente per le Nuove Tecnologie, l'Energia e l'Ambiente (ENEA), Rome
Dr D. Rinaldis
ENEA was involved in three tasks:
the uniform correction of records held by ENEA and ENEL but not by ICSTM, including those already available for dissemination and those to be digitised by ENEL for the project.
the digitisation and pre-processing of acceleration time histories recorded at ENEA-stations.
contribution to the database of any relevant information.
Institut de Protection et de Sûreté Nucléaire (IPSN), Paris
Dr F. Cotton
Dr C. Berge-Thierry
The duties of IPSN concerned four areas:
the compilation French strong-motion records not already available for dissemination.
contribution to the database of any relevant information.
in collaboration with ICSTM, the development of the browser program for searching, selecting and extracting of database-parameters and time histories and spectra.
the production of the CD-ROMs.
